The University of Western Australia Choral Society (UWACS) is one of the oldest surviving choirs in Australia and  in 2016 celebrated 85 years of wonderful history.
UWACS is a 100 strong mixed-voice choir. It has members of all backgrounds and ages, all sharing a love of choral music. We aim to provide our members with the opportunity to develop musical skills, be introduced to a variety of music styles and enjoy singing as part of a large group. New members are always welcome –especially male singers.
UWACS musical highlights have included: Mozart’s Coronation Mass, Vespers and Requiem; Mendelssohn’s Elijah, Verdi’s Requiem, Bach’s Mass in B Minor, Matthew Passion and Christmas Oratorio; Orff’s Carmina Burana, Elgar’s Dream of Gerontius, Lloyd Webber’s Requiem, Rutter’s Requiem, Bruckner’s Mass in E Minor, Haydn’s The Seasons and The Creation; Dvorak’s Stabat Mater and Mass in D Minor; Vivaldi’s Gloria, Handel’s Coronation Anthems, Israel in Egypt and The Messiah; Britten’s War Requiem and Karl Jenkins The Armed Man.
UWACS is very fortunate to have Christopher van Tuinen as their Conductor. Chris rehearses the choir every Wednesday evening, from 7:30pm-9:45pm, at the University of Western Australia.  In addition, Chris holds a music class every Wednesday from 6:30pm to 7:20pm.  Attendance is optional.
Those considering membership with UWACS are welcome to visit a rehearsal and sing with the choir before committing. A private audition with the Conductor is then required before membership can be granted.
