Voicemale, directed by Digby Hill, is a Fremantle-based group of blokes who sing, in numbers ranging between about a dozen and twenty as people come and go. Their emphasis is on good-humored enjoyment of singing a wide ranging repertoire which includes Georgian harmonizing, African and Islander rhythmic clapping, pop/rock, and folk/traditional – in short they like to try just about anything, and do it as well as they can. Their members range in age from early to late maturity, and like good cheeses, there are varying degrees of rind and rankness, but they aim to offend no one. In performance they like to project an image of skilled tradesmen, singing with lusty gusto or tender understatement as the situation demands. They don’t cost much, have fun and plan to go on polishing some old songs and exploring some new.
Voicemale meet on Monday evenings 7.30 at St. Paul’s Church Hall, Hampton Rd, Beaconsfield, Fremantle (just south of the intersection with South Street)
