SING INTO AUTUMN

March 2, 2020 @ 12:00 am

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to sing in a choir? Perhaps you have sung in a school or community choir before? Or are you a regular shower singer?
There is a lot of research indicating the benefits of individual singing both physically and mentally. It can help to improve lung and respiratory function in older people and by releasing endorphins and decreasing cortisol singing can help to promote feelings of happiness and relax muscles enabling reduced stress levels. Research is now showing that these benefits can be even greater when you are engaged in group singing. Community group singing also brings the social benefits that individual singing lacks helping to create and maintain positive social relationships that are vital to human well-being.

To encourage people in the community to engage in singing, the Heritage Country Choir is running Community Choir Workshops from Wed 11th March through to Wed 8th April. The course will include 4 weeks of workshop sessions led by experienced music educator Jo Bennett and culminate in a mini concert on the 5th week. It will be held at Briggs Park Hall, Mead St, Byford from 7.15 – 9.30pm each Wednesday and the cost is $25 for the complete course (including tea/coffee and a biscuit!).Bookings are required and can be made by contacting Marilyn on 94962993.

It’s going to be lots of fun so why not come and give it a go!
