Living Out Loud is an extraordinary 16-voice a cappella vocal and percussion group with a special sound that reflects the group’s 26-year history of singing together. We are based in Clifton Hill, Melbourne.
Living Out Loud has been fortunate enough to have the doyennes of Australian a cappella music directing them. Currently directed by Sue Johnson who many will know from Coco’s Lunch, the group was established with Tracey Miller as inaugural Musical Director, worked for 8 years with the inspirational Melanie Shanahan, and later for a time with Stephen Taberner.
Living Out Loud’s repertoire reflects life's journey and all that it encompasses. Songs sung by the choir, mostly locally written and arranged by Sue Johnson, are contemporary, spiritual, and earthy, reflecting life's journey and all that it encompasses. Many of the songs, some of which feature words by local authors Meme McDonald, Elizabeth Honey, Rosalind Price and Stephen Costello, are about a sense of place and connecting to the elements, and the landscape around us, and to each other. We are joyful, uplifting, and inspiring. We endeavour to make a positive
contribution to our community through music and song.
